After months of waiting, the Supreme Court finally issued a ruling on Monday that rejected Trump’s bid to fire a sitting member of the Federal Reserve. The decision, which was widely expected, didn’t move markets much. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 2.1%.

Wall St ends mixed as tech megacap losses outweigh upbeat chip outlook

And you have to have memory, specifically DRAM or H-band memory, if you're going to have enough computing power to do all the computations. That is nothing if you don't have memory to transfer it from one place to another. So one of the reasons that these stocks have done so well and the growth at Micron is so solid is because a recent redesign in the server technology means we go from eight memory chips per server to 96. 6-26-2025: AI Crosscurrents, Broadening Rally + Small Caps Rise

Eric Criscuolo, NYSE Market Strategist, recaps a volatile week as the S&P 500 declined amid weakness across mega-cap and AI-linked names. A growing divide within the AI trade emerged, with hyperscalers and software under pressure while memory and chip suppliers saw sharp swings. Despite index weakness, market internals held firm, with eight sectors higher and small caps outperforming. Rotation into Healthcare and Financials accelerated alongside falling oil prices, easing yields, and shifting Fed expectations. Focus now turns to quarter-end flows, key data including payrolls, and evolving AI spending trends.

PCE Inflation Data Hot But Falling Oil Prices Calm Fed Fears (Live Coverage)

The Federal Reserve's primary inflation gauge, the core PCE price index, showed the 12-month inflation rate hitting its highest level since October 2023, as Wall Street expected. S&P 500 futures are solidly higher early Thursday after a three-session losing streak sparked in part by the prospect for tighter monetary policy under new Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh. Rate-hike expectations have sent the U.S. dollar surging to its highest level in more than a year, even as prospects for rate hikes by other global central banks have faded with tumbling oil prices.
