On top of that, next quarter’s revenue guidance ($865 million at the midpoint) was surprisingly good and 4.2% above what analysts were expecting. Its GAAP profit of $1.25 per share was 29.6% above analysts’ consensus estimates.

Adidas sold four times more jerseys and twice as many footballs as the previous tournament, generating around €1.5 billion in World Cup-related sales.</p><p>But attention doesn’t come cheap. Adidas spent an extra €212 million on marketing.
