<body><p>STORY: From Nvidia's deal with Wall Street giants... to China's AI weather forecasting</p><p>This is AI Weekly.</p><p>:: AI Weekly</p><p>Nvidia has partnered with six major financial institutions to launch compute financing platforms.</p><p>They are aimed at raising over $500 billion in third-party capital for AI infrastructure.</p><p>Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on X the company has the option to backstop up to $125 billion, or 25% of the potential deals.</p><p>The move highlights how surging demand for AI computing capacity is drawing institutional investors.</p><p>South Korea will launch a $3.5 billion semiconductor fund targeting promising chip materials, parts, equipment and fabless companies.</p><p>Seoul says it seeks to accelerate plans for new chip manufacturing hubs across the country.</p><p>Under the plan, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, suppliers and local governments are expected to invest more than $576 billion in new chip manufacturing projects.</p><p>A French press association has asked the country's competition watchdog to take action against Google's AI-generated article summaries.</p><p>The trade group says they deprive newspapers and magazines of readers.</p><p>The group has called on the regulator to make a decision similar to one ordered against&nbsp;Meta.</p><p>To put forward a payment plan and resume talks with traditional media seeking fees for the use of their content by AI tools.</p><p>China is emerging as a leading player in the race to improve weather prediction through AI.</p><p>Meteorologists used a new generation of AI weather models alongside traditional forecasting systems as they tracked Typhoon Dolphin's path.</p><p>Researchers say they can generate forecasts much faster than conventional systems while matching or surpassing them on some measures of accuracy.</p></body>
