Oil Heiress’s $1.9 Billion Stock Sale Sinks Diamondback Shares

It was already a bad day for oil stocks with crude prices declining and interest rates headed higher, when a big stock sale from Diamondback Energy’s largest shareholder pushed the Texas driller’s shares down 8%, their worst day since April 2025. The seller of nearly $2 billion of Diamondback shares was SGF FANG Holdings, the entity through which the daughter of the late Autry Stephens controls a big stake in the firm that bought her father’s West Texas oil empire two years ago. The holding company sold nearly 9.1 million Diamondback shares Tuesday, trimming its stake to about 23% of the Midland, Texas company’s shares, according to securities filings.

Goldman’s fixed income, currencies and commodities business has been softer than its equities business, which “continues to be very strong,” Solomon said at a financial-services conference hosted by Barclays. In asset and wealth management, Solomon said Goldman was exceeding its growth target of high-single digit percentages.

10-Year Yields Move Past 5% Again

Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh did nothing to quell the bond market angst. Bond traders expected the Fed to raise interest rates. That should have quelled some angst and raised bond prices. Instead, the 10-year yield is elevated and above 5% mark.

Fed’s Warsh Says Interest Rates Aren’t Holding Economy Back

Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh didn’t give market participants much hope that Wednesday’s rate increase would be a one-and-done event. Asked whether he thinks monetary policy is weighing on economic activity following the hike, Warsh said that he “found it difficult to describe financial conditions as restrictive” and that most of his colleagues at the Fed agree.

Zuckerberg, Huang Break With Industry Leaders on AI Warnings

Bloomberg's Mike Shepard said President Trump's opposition to AI guardrails is another instance of his anti-regulation position across all industries, as well as his closeness with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang who recently pushed back on fears about AI safety. Shepard said that President Trump is also looking to his meeting with China's President Xi and wants no obstacles around AI heading into that conversation.
