Moderna Earnings Are Better Than Expected So Why Is the Stock Falling?

Moderna posted a narrower per-share loss and higher revenue in its latest quarter, but shares were tumbling anyway. Moderna posted a loss of $1.97 a share, narrower than the loss of $2.01 Wall Street had anticipated, and slimmer than the per-share loss of $2.13 reported last year. The drugmaker reiterated its full-year guidance of 10% revenue growth, evenly split between U.S. and international sales.

Ares 2Q Fundraising Jumps 39%

Private-fund manager Ares Management reported record fundraising of $36.4 billion in the second quarter, rebounding from a slowdown earlier in the year. The amount of money raised climbed about 24% from the first quarter of this year and 39% from the second quarter of 2025. Fundraising from Ares business development companies—a type of private-credit fund commonly sold to individual investors—dipped, but that was offset by a surge in sales of funds to institutional clients, like pensions and sovereign wealth funds.

Amazon jumps as AWS growth soothes fears over rising AI spending

Amazon shares jumped more than 12% before the bell on Friday after the e-commerce and cloud giant posted its strongest cloud growth in over ‌four years, bolstering investor confidence that its multibillion-dollar AI bets are driving a ‌fresh wave of demand. The rally put Amazon on track to add about $300 billion in market value, as investors looked past a 10% increase in planned capital expenditure to $220 billion and instead focused on booming demand at Amazon Web Services (AWS), the profit engine at the center of the company's AI push. The reaction was in sharp contrast to Alphabet's earnings last week, when the Google-parent's shares stumbled after it reported its ‌first negative cash flow, which stemmed from rising AI-related spending.
