In a boost for struggling sector, JPMorgan highlighted long-term, structural supply deficits for uranium.

Uranium mining sits at the narrow end of the funnel feeding the AI-driven reactor buildout, and three US-listed juniors are racing to fill a supply gap that utilities cannot contract their way out of. Not all three are equally close to producing a single pound.

AI-driven power demand and expiring utility contracts are tightening uranium supply, lifting long-term price targets to $95 per pound and boosting Cameco, NexGen Energy, and BWX Technologies.

A sales multiple built on about $20 million of trailing revenue, a figure that rounds to zero in the billions the company reports, measures a decision rather than a business, leaving the buy case resting on what the production ramp costs per pound.

The consensus price target hints at a 45.8% upside potential for NexGen Energy (NXE). While empirical research shows that this sought-after metric is hardly effective, an upward trend in earnings estimate revisions could mean that the stock will witness an upside in the near term.

Standard Uranium Ltd (TSXV:STND)(OTCQB:STTDF) CEO Jon Bey tells Proactive's Stephen Gunnion that the company has secured a C$3 million investment from Bitexco, a Vietnamese energy company also known as Big Energy, marking it as a strategic shareholder in Standard Uranium's Athabasca Basin uranium exploration portfolio. Bey said the C$3 million will partly fund the ongoing Davidson River Project drill program, which started in June and is expected to run through the third week of September. The program targets 7,000 to 8,000 metres with a total budget of approximately $5.5 to $6 million, and Bey expects roughly $2 to $2.5 million to remain in the bank after the program concludes. On the exploration upside at Davidson River, Bey highlighted that the southwest corner of the Athabasca Basin is proving fertile for high-grade uranium, with neighbours including NexGen Energy to the east, Paladin, and BHP, which he says has recently staked a large position directly south of Standard Uranium's ground. Beyond Davidson River, Standard Uranium holds 10 projects across the Athabasca Basin. Bey said the Corvo project, drilled this spring with Aventus Energy, and the Rocas project with Collective Metals are both being targeted for 2027 drilling, with additional joint venture discussions ongoing across the wider portfolio. Bey also noted that September marks the start of the uranium contracting season, with the World Nuclear Uranium Conference in London typically coinciding with utilities beginning to sign supply contracts, which he said has historically supported uranium spot and long-term prices. Standard Uranium CEO, Jon Bey and Vice President of Exploration, Sean Hillacre talked with Proactive at the latest One2One Investor Forum about the company’s uranium exploration strategy in Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin, upcoming drilling at the flagship Davidson River project, and the growing global demand for nuclear energy. CEO Jon Bey explained that Standard Uranium was founded in 2017 during a weak uranium market with the vision that nuclear power would become an increasingly important part of the global energy mix. He highlighted that the Athabasca Basin remains one of the world’s premier uranium districts, with exceptionally high grades and strong long-term exploration potential. Vice President of Exploration Sean Hillacre, formerly with NexGen Energy, discussed how Standard Uranium is applying modern exploration techniques to search for a potential tier-one uranium discovery. Hillacre stated: “We’ve done it before, and we’re using newer versions of the same technology and methods that we used at NexGen to find Arrow.” The discussion also covered the accelerating demand for nuclear energy, the role of uranium in powering AI-driven data centres, and the widening long-term supply gap expected across the uranium market. #StandardUranium #Uranium #NuclearEnergy #AthabascaBasin #UraniumStocks #MiningStocks #EnergyTransition #NuclearPower #UraniumExploration #DavidsonRiver #SeanHillacre #JonBey #CanadianMining #SmallCapStocks #ProactiveInvestors
