Asian shares mostly rose early Tuesday, as the market mood turned positive from the overnight rally on Wall Street. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained nearly 0.6% to 25,185.26, while the Shanghai Composite rose 0.4% to 3,964.45. Wall Street climbed to the edge of its all-time high Monday.

Almost everyone was expecting the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates this month. When the Fed raised interest rates for the first time in three years, from 3.75% to 4%, at the conclusion of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting last week, the move seemed a foregone conclusion. After all, the job market has been relatively stable, while the ongoing Iran war is just the latest fuel for the inflation fire.

The Nasdaq composite is poised to close at its first record since June after adding to gains in afternoon trading. The tech-heavy index was recently up 2.3% to 27121, which would be the highest close on record.

Stocks kicked off Monday's trading session in the green as investors optimistically looked to this week's United Nation General Assembly as an opportunity for an Iran resolution. The Nasdaq Composite popped 1%.
