<body><p>STORY: Chip stocks are seeing a rebound after bullish outlooks from U.S. firms Micron Technology and Qualcomm.</p><p>South Korea’s tech-heavy Kospi index jumped around 5% in early trade Thursday.</p><p>Chip giant SK Hynix gained around 10% by mid-morning.</p><p>The rally came after days of sharp declines for global tech stocks, sparked by concerns over the sky-high valuations for AI-related shares.</p><p>:: Micron</p><p>Those worries eased late Wednesday when Micron said customers had committed to spend $22 billion on its chips.</p><p>It also forecast quarterly profit and revenue well above expectations, sending its shares 12% higher in after-hours trade.</p><p>Landsberg Bennett Chief Investment Officer Michael Landsberg says the AI boom has been transformational for memory chip makers like Micron:</p><p>“What’s happened in this space has been, typically this used to be more of a commodity, and so what’s happened now with AI, a lot of these chips are needed to make AI work faster and better so the demand has really been strong across the entire sector.”</p><p>Also after the bell, Qualcomm said it expected $15 billion in sales for its data center business by 2029.</p><p>That’s as it seeks to move beyond its core market of chips for smartphones and focus on AI.</p><p>:: SK Hynix</p><p>Wednesday also saw SK Hynix reveal plans for a major Wall Street stock listing that may raise close to $30 billion.</p><p>That could make it the second-biggest share sale ever, coming just after the record IPO by Elon Musk’s rocket firm SpaceX.</p></body>
