Top computer chip equipment maker ASML said its capacity expansion plans in 2027 and 2028 unveiled on Wednesday along with second-quarter earnings take into account demand for its tools from Elon Musk's planned Terafab chip production facility in Texas. "We're in dialogue with all our customers and we know ... what their building plans are," Chief Financial Officer Roger Dassen said on a call.
The focus turns to Wednesday's release of the Producer Price Index and a wave of earnings.

Intel has decided to use a high-end machine from ASML to manufacture some of its flagship Panther Lake laptop chips, ASML said on Tuesday, a move that will help the chipmaker learn to use the tool more effectively. Following experiments that began in 2024, Intel has begun to use ASML's next-generation high numerical aperture (High NA) extreme ultraviolet (EUV) machines, which print circuit patterns on to microchips, to help produce a portion of its Panther Lake processors, ASML said. The industry has debated at what point it makes economic sense to begin deploying the High NA tools, which likely will be needed by chipmakers in the future as they continue to shrink the atomic-sized features that make up chips.
ASML, the world's biggest supplier of equipment used to manufacture computer chips, on Wednesday reported better-than-expected second-quarter revenue and profit, as demand from makers of artificial intelligence chips offset uncertainty over sales to China. Revenue for the three months ended June 30 was 9.33 billion euros ($10.90 billion), compared with the 8.80 billion euros expected by analysts, according to LSEG median estimates. Net income was 2.92 billion euros, compared with the 2.62 billion euros expected, according to LSEG data.

Investing.com -- B. Riley is framing this week's second-quarter earnings reports from ASML and TSMC as "tone-setting" for the entire semiconductor and semiconductor capital equipment sector, arguing that a $880 billion surge in AI infrastructure spending has arrived roughly 12 months ahead of the firm's prior forecasts.
ASML, the biggest supplier of equipment used to manufacture AI chips, reports quarterly earnings on Wednesday looking to justify its chunky valuation and demonstrate how it will contend with U.S. moves to block exports to China. Clouding the outlook, however, is a proposed U.S. law requiring U.S. allies to align with export controls to curb China's ability to make advanced chips, with ASML named in the legislation. The company has denied selling its most advanced EUV tools to China, which is forecast to account for up to 20% of ASML's sales this year through legal purchases of less-advanced DUV tools to make chips for automotive, industrial and electronic products.
