$LEU reported revenue of $55.5M for the third quarter, down 26% from a year ago, and an adjusted net loss of $9.4M. The number that moved is the order book: the contingent LEU and HALEU commitments tied to new enrichment capacity at Piketon, Ohio grew to $5.4B from $3.0B in June, and total backlog to $7.0B from $4.5B. This recap walks the print, the backlog, the guide, the cash, the read across the Nuclear / SMR bubble and what to watch next, against our /stocks/leu thesis.
The TL;DR. A weak quarter on deliveries (uranium sales volume fell, the DOE HALEU operation contract revenue dropped $10.2M) and a much bigger book of future orders. GAAP net income of $31.6M is mostly a $46.4M non-cash gain on warrants; the company's own adjusted figure is a loss. The first new centrifuge shipped from Oak Ridge ahead of the year-end target.
This recap is drawn from the news release (8-K exhibit 99.1) filed on November 4, 2026 after the close. The conference call (November 5, 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time) and the 10-Q are not covered here.
The print
$LEU reported the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $55.5M | $74.9M | -26% |
| SWU revenue | $14.1M | $10.7M | +32% |
| Uranium revenue | $17.7M | $34.1M | -48% |
| Technical Solutions revenue | $23.7M | $30.1M | -21% |
| Gross profit (loss) | -$10.6M | -$4.3M | wider loss |
| Operating income (loss) | -$29.7M | -$16.6M | wider loss |
| Net income (GAAP) | $31.6M | $3.9M | +$27.7M |
| EPS (GAAP, diluted) | $1.41 | $0.19 | +$1.22 |
| Adjusted net income (loss), non-GAAP | -$9.4M | $5.2M | swing to a loss |
| Adjusted EPS, non-GAAP (diluted) | -$0.46 | $0.25 | swing to a loss |
What moved the numbers:
- Uranium. Uranium revenue fell $16.4M on a lower volume sold. The company notes that LEU customers buy on annual commitments, so quarters swing with delivery timing.
- SWU. Enrichment (SWU) revenue rose $3.4M on 19% more volume and a 10% higher average price, but the average unit cost of SWU sold rose 28%.
- HALEU contract. Technical Solutions lost $10.2M of revenue from the 2022 HALEU operation contract with the Department of Energy, and swung to a $3.7M gross loss from a $3.5M profit.
- The GAAP line. Net income includes a $46.4M gain on the fair value of the warrant liability created by the September raise, plus $16.9M of investment income on the cash pile. Excluding the warrant gain, growth costs and stock compensation, the company reports an adjusted loss of $9.4M.
The backlog
| Backlog | Sept. 30, 2026 | June 30, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Total, both segments | $7.0B | $4.5B |
| LEU segment | ~$6.2B | ~$3.7B |
| Contingent LEU and HALEU commitments | ~$5.4B | ~$3.0B |
| of which under definitive agreements | $5.1B | $2.4B |
| Technical Solutions | ~$0.8B |
The contingent commitments support the potential build of LEU and HALEU capacity at Piketon and "tend to relate to achievement of operational milestones": they become revenue only if the capacity gets built and runs. The release also states that the DOE's proposed fiscal 2027 budget does not fund further operation of the HALEU cascade under the operation contract, which is about $0.8B of the Technical Solutions backlog, and that the DOE does not currently intend to exercise further options. Centrus says it is enriching HALEU for the commercial market from the existing 16-centrifuge cascade.
The guide
| 2026 outlook (company) | Nov. 4 release | Aug. 5 release |
|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $450M to $500M | $450M to $500M |
| Capital deployment | $350M to $500M | $350M to $500M |
| Net new hires, Oak Ridge | at least 100 | at least 100 |
| Net new hires, Piketon | at least 175 | at least 175 |
The financial guide is unchanged. Nine-month revenue is $308.3M, so the range implies $142M to $192M in the fourth quarter (our arithmetic), the heaviest quarter of the year. Three operational targets set for year-end were met early: the first centrifuge manufactured and shipping from Oak Ridge, contracts finalized with all of the supply chain deemed critical, and the first certified-for-construction package. These are company guides, not results.
The cash
- Cash and equivalents of $2.24B at September 30, from $1.96B at December 31, after $493.8M net from the September issue of common stock, pre-funded warrants and common warrants.
- Capital expenditures of $226.4M over nine months, against $10.1M a year earlier; property, plant and equipment rose to $312.9M from $29.5M.
- Operating cash flow of minus $11.1M over nine months, against plus $99.4M a year earlier.
- Debt and warrants. Long-term debt of $1.18B (the convertible notes) and a new warrant liability of $220.4M on the balance sheet.
Nuclear / SMR read-through
The standing QA thesis on /stocks/leu is the US HALEU chokepoint moving from demonstration to commercial build, funded by the DOE contract and a large cash balance, against a production gap after the DOE demonstration contract, dilution from the September raise and the capital intensity of the build.
- Demand. Definitive agreements under the contingent backlog more than doubled in a quarter, to $5.1B from $2.4B. For the SMR and advanced reactor names that need HALEU, the fuel order book is filling.
- Execution. Centrifuge shipments and the construction package ahead of schedule are the supply side of the same thesis.
- The gap. Revenue from the HALEU operation contract is falling and the DOE does not plan to fund further operation in fiscal 2027, the bear point of the thesis confirmed in the filing.
Net read: the order book and the build moved forward; current revenue and margins did not.

What worked
- Total backlog up to $7.0B from $4.5B in one quarter; definitive contingent agreements at $5.1B.
- First centrifuge shipped from Oak Ridge and the critical supply chain under contract, both ahead of the year-end target.
- SWU volume up 19% and the average SWU price up 10%.
- $2.24B of cash and equivalents.
What broke
- Revenue. Down 26% to $55.5M, with uranium revenue nearly halved.
- Margins. A gross loss of $10.6M and an operating loss of $29.7M; SWU unit cost up 28%.
- The DOE cascade. No further funding proposed for fiscal 2027 and no further options expected, about $0.8B of backlog at risk.
- Quality of earnings. The GAAP profit is a non-cash warrant gain; the adjusted line is a $9.4M loss.
- The tape. A $92.58 close on November 4 before the release, down 37% over a month, 52% over three months and 72% over a year in the data QA tracks.
What to watch
- The call on November 5 and the 10-Q: the terms behind the new definitive agreements and the Westerman acquisition.
- Fourth quarter revenue against the $142M to $192M the unchanged guide implies.
- Capital deployment against the $350M to $500M guide, with $226.4M spent through September.
- The HALEU cascade: any private operating arrangement after the DOE contract.
- Levels. One curated level on LEU, the key Fibonacci line at $183, above the November 4 close.
